Until recently, laptops and notebooks were only ever owned by businessmen who were permanently on the move. Now as prices have fallen dramatically, laptops and notebooks are more affordable. As a recently, more and more people are chosing laptops ahead of the more traditional desktop PC.
Portability is one of the major advantages that laptops have over desktop computers and with WiFi hotspots springing up all over the place, you can stay connected from pretty much anywhere. Laptops allow you to take your work and information with you whereas in the past you would have to save it to a memory stick and find an internet cafe.
Another advantage that many people overlook is that laptops have a ready made UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). If the mains power fails, the battery kicks straight in so you can carry on.
I rarely travel anywhere without my laptop. If I don’t have any work to finish, I can listen to music, watch films and its also handy for backing up any photos I’ve taken at the end of the day so the memory card on my camera is nice and clean for the next days sightseeing.
